Making a personalised ribbon bow order.
People often don't realise what goes into making hairbows, or other handmade items. So I've decided to show you exactly what went into making this order for a customer.
Measuring the ribbon (grosgrain in this instance - great for personalisation!), folding, measuring again, folding, moving, clipping, checking, sewing.
Then creating the name for the customer. I use the Cricut Joy for my names, as it's the baby of the Cricut family and perfect for smaller projects. The Joy cuts out the name, but everything around the name is also left on the sheet, so this has to be removed. Did you know that this process is called "Weeding"? (Some people hate this part, it can be very time consuming!)
This is followed by heat transferring the name to the ribbon, hence the clip of my craft iron. (No you didn't catch a glimpse of me doing my laundry! Who does their ironing anymore anyway?!) So it looks like we're nearly done....
BUT WAIT!
Finishing touches are needed! The clip needs lining with ribbon and attaching securely to the bow, with glue & ribbon. (Minimizing the risk of being left with a clip in your hair with no bow attached! Not on my watch, thank you very much!)
And we're done! Just an extra trim of the ribbon so the set is identical, and sealing the ends of the ribbon with a lighter to avoid fraying edges.
I hope you enjoy the video, you check the bows and available colours here.
